EDRA/GHIN are Delighted to Welcome
Intergamma to our International Network!
The European DIY Retail Association (EDRA) and Global Home Improvement Network (GHIN) are delighted to share that Intergamma has joined the association.
Intergamma, based in the Netherlands, is the organization behind the do-it-yourself formulas GAMMA (NL & BE) and KARWEI (NL). With little under 400 hardware stores in the Netherlands and Belgium, Intergamma is one of the 15 largest DIY retailers in Europe and the market leader in the Benelux. In 2022, their total store sales increased to €1.523 million.
In addition to its 2022 annual report, Intergamma for the first time also published a Sustainability Report. Intergamma was able to reduce their CO2 emissions in scope 1 and 2 by 8 percent compared to 2021, the year of the baseline measurement. This is a first step in their ambition to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.
Intergamma is partially a franchise organization, with the franchise formulas of GAMMA and KARWEI available to independent entrepreneurs. About half of the nearly 400 outlets are operated by Intergamma directly.
"The major global challenges in areas such as sustainability require clear, unified and equal policies within which retailers across Europe can operate on a level playing field,” says Joost de Beijer, CEO of Intergamma. “Our expectation is that by joining EDRA-GHIN, the interests of the DIY sector can be served even more effectively."
John W. Herbert shared “Welcoming Intergamma to EDRA/GHIN now means that almost all major DIY and home improvement retailers in Europe are in our network. Through the EDRA/GHIN members working together we can ensure that the DIY and home improvement industry comes together on topics that affect all of us, like sustainability and carbon emissions.
With the addition of Intergamma EDRA/GHIN now represents 229 home improvement retailers in 79 countries.
