Globus: Open Refurbished Store in Losheim am See, Germany
In the quiet town of Losheim am See in Saarland, Germany, Globus completed the conversion of its former 1990s hardware store into its most modern and flagship store in October 2021.
The new store is designed with a core principle of omnichannel retailing kept firmly in mind. In the future, Timo Huwer, CEO of Globus Fachmärkte GmbH & Co. KG, has stated that he aims to offer same day delivery to customers. It is clear that Globus is merging online and offline business.
The refurbished store has a sales area of 9,800 sqm and offers over 60,000 SKUs.
The store was also refurbished with sustainability in mind. Solar panels are located on the roof, large skylights reduce the need of artificial lighting, rainwater is collected, electric charging points are available for customers in the carpark and the store is heated through a solar energy-powered heat pump.
According to the company, since the reopening, the Losheimer Markt has made 20 percent more sales than in the previous year.
